Roth IRA Conversion

Posted in HYIP on May 31st, 2008

A Roth IRA is an individual retirement account wherein a person can save his or her tax-deducted income for retirement and get tax-free earnings in returns. It is different from the traditional IRA account, in that the earnings are tax-exempt, but the earnings may or may not be tax-free.

There are two ways to contribute funds to the Roth IRA account. One is by simply depositing compensation income, which can be the income obtained in the form of wages, earnings from a self-employed work, or even alimony. The other way is to convert funds from a traditional IRA to the Roth IRA. This can be done by taking funds from the traditional IRA account and depositing them into the Roth IRA account within 60 days of receiving the funds. Therefore, a Roth IRA Conversion account is a retirement account created when a person converts his or her regular IRA account into a Roth IRA account. To convert a regular IRA account into a Roth IRA account, you have to meet certain eligibility criteria. The Conversion is not allowed if the modified adjusted annual gross income exceeds $100,000. This applies for single tax-return filers, and also married couples filing their tax returns jointly.

It is important to note that the entire amount used to convert a regular IRA account into a Roth account, is subject to income tax. This is because contributions to a Roth IRA are tax-deductible.

So far as withdrawals or distributions are concerned, the rules for a Roth Conversion account have a penalty for early withdrawal. This means that there is a penalty if the distribution is made within the first five-year period beginning from the year when the first contributions were made from a regular IRA.

Roth IRA provides detailed information about Roth IRA, Roth IRA accounts, Roth IRA contributions, Roth IRA conversion and more. Roth IRA is the sister site of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Forms.

Ten Secret To Direct Mail Lead Generation Success

Posted in Marketing Parlor on May 31st, 2008

There are several effective ways to cultivate and encourage
leads and a lot of methods and systems you can implement to
gauge the efficiency of your lead generation and endorsing
programs.

A good deal of what succeeds or works is dependent on the
particular services and products that you are marketing.
Therefore, it is essential to try out new plans and ideas and
observe closely your statistics so you can discover the best
idea for you.

1. Resolve what is a lead is and what is not. A lead is not
simply anybody who asked questions or a record that you purchase
from a management firm.

2. Utilize the finest prospecting or potential media to produce,
generate or create leads. A proficient lead producing media or
channel will incorporate direct mail, outbound telesales or
marketing and your existing web site and

3. Keep away from trade shows and print advertising, especially
if the listeners present at the show are not very qualified.

4. Never generate leads more than you require and can reach or
accomplish with a targeted or aimed direct answer communication.
Lead generation is not comparable to awareness building.

5. Incorporate an offer to inspire the receiver or recipient to
reply. Regardless of how wonderful your service or product may
be, customers need a bribe or incentive so they can be well
motivated to take time out from their schedules to answer back.

6. Execute fast. Often, individuals or customers can not wait.
Before generating your initial lead, be certain that you can
provide and supply them with the promotion that you offered; be
sure to deliver it at least in 24 hours.

7. Use prearranged prerequisite criteria so that leads can be
qualified. Inquire straightforward or follow up so you will be
able to learn if the lead is prepared for a sales or transaction
through phone. Generally, qualification inquiries evaluate and
judge the lead’s obtainable budget, purchasing power, and period
or allotted time for the purchase.

8. Utilize a scoring system to segregate the leads in two
groups; those that are set and prepared for a sales
representative and those that are not yet ready. You possibly
will find leads that are not worth maintaining.

9. Care for leads which are completely set for a deal or sales
call. Nurturing is never a solitary or one time correspondence,
but a series of interaction or communications patterned to build
a dialogue, consciousness and trust. This pattern of interaction
must continue in such time that the individual is prepared to
talk to a sales agent.

10. Gauge the outcome of your efforts. When you are accustomed
to selling your products or services in a one-step procedure or
process, you may have to consider the cost per investigation or
inquiry, cost for each qualified or accepted lead or the cost to
translate a lead.

Direct mail advantages

1. This permits you to aim your message or communication to
specific and exact audience; you can choose a street of homes or
even all residents in a city. Set your sights on all college
freshmen at different Universities or a specific level of
college freshmen at one university having their own a vehicles.
You can either mail to all your clients or only to those who
purchase at least thirty dollars on goods each time they visit
your store. There are endless of possibilities here, as your
circulation record precision permits.

2. This is a medium that is fairly expensive. But, if you can
give attention to only high-probability buyers, money making can
be beneficial.

3. The messages can very well be customized, adding to reader
interest. 4. You can gauge its efficiency by putting side by
side the amount of responses as to the amount of letters mailed.
By including coded response cards or coupons you can monitor
with preciseness who replied and from what location.

Direct Mail Disadvantages

1. A lot of individuals have negative reactions to unsolicited
proposals and offers and are doubtful of their legitimacy.

2. There are people busy with their jobs that do not have the
available time to even open and check these kinds of mails; they
often regard it as “junk mail.”

3. With this kind of advertising, it demands thorough upkeep of
mail records, and many advertisers regard it as too much work.

To whatever method you choose, dedication and hard work would
always pave the way for your success.

Dealing with Marginal Performers: The Therapeutic Approach

Posted in Managers Corner on May 30th, 2008

–PREPARATION: The purpose of the therapeutic approach is to spark an employee toward improved performance through counseling. The manager’s goal is to help the employee recognize the existence of a problem, accept the need for change, and formulate his or her own program for improvement. The manager should critically assess his or her own attitudes and opinions. It is important to try to eliminate all personal bias and prejudice or at least be aware of any such emotions no matter how little effect they seem to be having. For the most positive results, the manager should be noncritical or at least noncommittal toward the marginal performer. In addition, the interview should be conducted in private, without interruptions, and with adequate time.

–SETTING A COMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE: The employee should be made to feel relaxed and at ease. It is particularly important that no mental anguish is spent in guessing the interview’s purpose. It is not necessary for the manager to “build the employee up” with praise about favorable performance but it is desirable that the atmosphere is friendly and constructive.

– STIMULATING SELF-APPRAISAL: The simplest, most forthright tactic is to explain to the employee that there are problem areas. Elicit self-analysis from employees about their jobs, particularly focusing on those areas where they feel that their performance could be improved. Once employees begin discussing unsatisfactory performance or at least elaborating on problems they are encountering on the job the manager can pursue the problem areas. Asking, rather than telling the employee, becomes the key to an effective discussion. Through these questions, the manager keeps the employees on the subject and gets them to suggest ideas on improving performance.

– STIMULATING SELF-SUGGESTION: Once the employee has begun to make positive suggestions, the manager should encourage exploration of these ideas in detail to determine which ones will be most useful for self-improvement. The manager should interfere as little as possible in the employee’s self-evaluation. Offering suggestions to the employee will likely negate the whole process. The employee’s defense mechanisms are always lingering in the background, and they may surface the minute the manager begins to press the employee into following a course of action, thereby defeating the purpose of the therapeutic counseling interview.

Direct Mail Marketing for Mortgage Leads

Posted in Marketing Parlor on May 30th, 2008

Emails have gotten a lot of attention over the past several years and have been credited as being an effective, low cost way of reaching new customers. Unfortunately, the growth of spam emails has effectively crowded out legitimate sales pitches. That is why a mass mailing campaign through the post office is still an effective and fairly inexpensive way to help you generate mortgage leads. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you put together your direct mail campaign:

1. Mail on a regular schedule
The key to mailing for mortgage leads is consistency - mail on a regular schedule… weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Check with the post office to see how to qualify for bulk mail rates.

2. Keep the letter personal
Personalized letters achieve better results than a standard “form” letter. No, you can’t come up with hundreds of different letters for hundreds of separate clients, but you can write in such a way that leaves out the overt business style while emphasizing a personal touch. Use a trusted mail-merge program to include the person’s name, address and payment examples in the letter.

3. Fewer steps = higher conversion
You can set up an answering service to take the incoming calls and forward them to you via email or fax. But you will get a much higher conversion rate if you can talk to the callers immediately. If you must call them back you’ll lose clients who typically want to talk to a live person right away.

Of course, an important part of any successful mailing campaign is the way you craft your letter. Here are a few things to keep in mind after the salutation:

1. Keep paragraphs brief and to the point. Important points made within specific sentences should receive bold lettering. Use red bold letters for the most important information, particularly if you use paragraph headers.
2. Bullets are a great way to set apart important information.
3. Avoid using caps. Like with emails, it will appear that you are shouting at your prospects.
4. Times New Roman or a similar 10 or 12 point font is the easiest on the eyes. Keep your page’s background clear and uncluttered. A watermark is fine, but any other marks that bleeds through your sales pitch can take away from your message.

Of course, when you sign your letter you must make certain to include your name and title. Contact information should be included within the body of the letter or at the bottom. Leave no chance of someone having difficulty finding out how to respond to your pitch!

In all, a well thought out mailing campaign can achieve great results. Work on your sales pitch and send letters out on a consistent basis. With a well crafted mass mailing plan in place, you can achieve a good response rate and grow your mortgage business.

Landscape Gardening Tips

Posted in Gardening Parlor on May 30th, 2008

Landscape gardening has often been associated with the painting of a picture. Your art-work teacher has told you that a good picture should have a point of interest, and the rest of the points simply go to make the piece more beautiful. So in landscape gardening there must be a picture in the gardener’s mind of what he desires the whole to be.

From this study we will be able to work out a little theory of landscape gardening.

Let’s start with the lawn. A good extent of open lawn space is always beautiful. It is restful. It adds a feeling of space to even small grounds. So we might generalize and say that it is good to keep open lawn space. If someone to cover his lawn with a lot of trees, with little flower beds here and there, the general effect is choppy and fussy. It is a bit like an over-dressed person. One’s yard has lost all individuality. A single tree or a small group is not a bad arrangement on the lawn. Do not center the tree or trees. Let them drop into the background. Make a pleasing side feature with them. In choosing trees you must keep in mind a number of things. You should not choose an overpowering tree; the tree should be of good shape, with something interesting about its bark, leaves, flowers or fruit. While the poplar is a rapid grower, it sheds its leaves early and is left standing, bare and ugly, before the fall is old. Mind you, there are places where a row or double row of Lombardy poplars is very effective. But I think you’ll agree with me that one lone poplar is not. The catalpa is quite lovely by itself. Its leaves are broad, its flowers attractive, the seed pods which cling to the tree until away into the winter, add a bit of picture. The bright berries of the ash, the brilliant foliage of the sugar maple, the blossoms of the tulip tree, the bark of the white birch, and the leaves of the copper beech are beauty points to consider.

Placement makes a difference in the selection of a tree. Suppose the lower portion of the yard is a bit low and moist, then the spot is ideal for a willow. Don’t group trees together which look awkward. A long-looking poplar does not go with a nice rounded little tulip tree. A juniper, so neat and prim, would look silly beside a spreading chestnut. You must keep proportion and suitability in mind.

I would never advise planting a group of evergreens close to a house, and in the front yard. The effect is very gloomy. Houses surrounded are over capped and are not only gloomy to live in, but truly unhealthy. The requisite inside a house is sunlight and plenty of it.

As trees are chosen because of certain good points, shrubs should be also. In a clump I would plant some that bloom early, some that bloom late, some for the beauty of their fall foliage, some for the color of their bark and others for the fruit. Some spireas and the forsythia bloom early. The red bark of the dogwood makes for a bit of color all winter, and the red berries of the barberry cling to the shrub well into the winter.

Certain shrubs are good to use for hedge purposes. A hedge is prettier usually than a fence. The Californian privet is excellent for this purpose. Osage orange, Japan barberry, buckthorn, Japan quince, and Van Houtte’s spirea are other shrubs that make great hedges.

I forgot to say that in tree and shrub selection it is usually better to choose those of the locality where you live. Unusual and foreign plants do worse and often harmonize but poorly with their new setting.

Landscape gardening may follow along very formal lines or along informal lines. The first would have straight paths, straight rows in stiff beds, everything, as the name tells, perfectly formal. The other method is, of course, the exact opposite. There are danger points in each.

The formal arrangement is likely to look too stiff; the informal, too fussy, too wiggly. As far as paths go, keep this in mind, that a path should always lead somewhere. Its job is to direct one to a definite place. Now, straight, even paths are not unpleasing if the effect is to be a formal garden. The danger in the curved path is an abrupt curve, a whirligig effect. It is far better for you to stick to straight paths unless you can make a really beautiful curve. No one can tell you how to do this.

Garden paths may be gravel, dirt, or grass. You may see grass paths in some very lovely gardens. I doubt, however, if they would serve you nearly as well in your small garden. Your garden areas are so limited that they should be re-spaded each season, and the grass paths are a great bother in this work. Of course, a gravel path makes a fine appearance, but again you may not have gravel at your command. It is possible for any of you to dig out the path for two feet. Then put in six inches of stone. Over this, pack in the dirt, rounding it slightly toward the center of the path. There should never be depressions through the central part of paths, since these form convenient places for water to stand. The under layer of stone makes a natural drainage system.

A building often needs the help of vines or flowers or both to tie it to the yard in such a way that it forms a pleasant whole. Vines lend themselves well to this work. It is better to plant a perennial vine, and let it form a permanent part of your landscape scheme. The Virginia creeper, wistaria, honeysuckle, a climbing rose, the clematis and trumpet vine are all satisfactory.

Close your eyes and picture a house of natural color, that mellow gray of the weathered shingles. Now add to this old house a purple wistaria. Can you see the beauty of it?

Of course, the morning-glory is an annual vine, as is the moon-vine and wild cucumber. Now, these have their special function. For often, it is necessary to cover an ugly thing for just a time, until better things and better times come. The annual is ‘the chap’ for this work.

Flowers go well along the side of the building, or bordering a walk. In general, though, keep the front lawn space open and unbroken by beds. What lovelier in early spring than a bed of daffodils close to the house? Hyacinths and tulips, too, form a blaze of glory. These are little or no bother, and start the spring right. Some make bulbs an exception to the rule of unbroken front lawn. Snowdrops and crocuses planted through the lawn are beautiful. They do not disturb the general effect, but just blend with the whole. One expert bulb gardener says to take a basketful of bulbs in the fall, walk about your grounds, and just drop bulbs out here and there. Wherever the bulbs drop, plant them. Small bulbs as those we plant in lawns should be in groups of four to six. Daffodils may be planted, too.

The place for a flower garden is generally at the side or rear of the house. The backyard garden is a lovely idea, is it not? Who would want to leave a beautiful looking front yard, turn the corner of a house, and find a dump heap? Not I. The flower garden may be laid out formally in neat little beds, or it may be more careless, hit-or-miss sort. Both have their good points. Great masses of bloom are attractive.

You should have in mind some notion of the blending of color. Nature does not consider this at all, and still gets wondrous effects. This is because of the tremendous amount of her perfect background of green, and the limitlessness of her space, while we are confined at the best to relatively small areas. We should not blind people’s eyes with clashes of colors which do not at close range blend well. In order to break up extremes of colors you can always use masses of white flowers, or something like mignonette, which is in effect green.

Finally, let’s sum up our landscape lesson. The grounds are a setting for the house or buildings. Open, free lawn spaces, a tree or a proper group well placed, flowers which do not clutter up the front yard, groups of shrubbery these are points to be remembered. The paths should lead somewhere, and be either straight or well curved. If you start with a formal garden, you should not mix the informal with it before the work is done.

Health Club Regulars — Some of the People You’re Likely To Meet at the Gym

Posted in Better Humor on May 28th, 2008

One of the great benefits of belonging to a health club is the huge variety of exercise equipment that’s available. It’s also a great place to meet and observe a wide cross section of society. Here are just a few of the more notable health club regulars:

1. Screaming Banshee — We’ve all been focused on our workout when out of nowhere comes a blood-curdling sound from the corner of the weight room. You look over and there’s a guy doing laterals with 20 lb dumbbells. It doesn’t matter what the exercise or weight is — he’s screaming with every rep. If it helps his workouts, then more power to him! It certainly makes a good case for a Walkman.

2. The Strainer — The Strainer can often be observed loading up a barbell or weight stack with poundage that he is unable to perform even a single rep in good form with. A favorite exercise of the Strainer is the triceps press down machine. He will position the pin almost near the bottom of the weight stack and then proceed to wrestle the stack downward with every ounce of his being. It’s truly painful to watch, but like a car wreck, it’s hard to look away.

After using most all of the muscles in his upper body along with several in his lower, he finally manages to complete a rep. “That’s one!” Yep, only nine more to go. Oh yeah, don’t bother trying to be helpful and tell him to use less weight. You’ll only be greeted with a nasty glare.

3. iPod Head Banger — this is usually a young person, male or female, who seems to have ear buds permanently implanted into their head. Music can be a great inspiration during your workouts, but these folks turn the volume up to 11. Of course everyone in the immediate area can groove to the same jams due to the sound leaking out from their ear buds.

The hazard is that Mr. or Ms Head Banger is usually oblivious to their surroundings and you’ll need to shout to get their attention if the need arises. At least you can hear them coming and give them a wide berth.

4. Stanley Steamer — it’s hard to believe, but there are people who actually use their gym memberships just to avail themselves of the locker room amenities. Take Stanley Steamer for example. He may come in on his lunch hour or after work and do some quick cardio work and then it’s right back to the locker room. The cardio work is just a pretext for what comes next.

He then will do alternating shifts between the dry sauna and steam room until he’s sweated out every last drop of water from his body. This process can go on for up to an hour. “Great for the pores!” he’ll tell you as he stands there glistening like a Thanksgiving Butterball. You go Stan!

5. Ken and Barbie — there are some gym regulars who are so genetically gifted that they have gone into permanent “maintenance mode” for they’re training. Their routines consist of a solid core of shaping exercises with the strict rule that they must never, under any circumstances, ever shed one drop of sweat!

No hair is out of place and they look spectacular in their Lycra workout gear. In fact, you seem to never see them wearing anything else, even outside of the gym.

6. Chatty Cathy — Cathy is a relatively new species that has evolved with the proliferation of cell phones and the trend to use them no matter where we are.
She will take up position on the adductor machine and wait for a call — any call — which soon arrives without fail.

She’ll talk away for minutes on end. Occasionally passing the cell phone to any friends who have joined her for a “workout”. She’ll use these breaks to get in a few reps on whatever machine she’s parked herself on. Just to be fair and balanced, there are also plenty of Chatty Carls as well.

7. Swiss Ball Magician — this is usually either a personal trainer or staff member who has learned a large repertoire of stability ball exercises from a special course or secret training manual. I marvel at the endless variety of moves they possess!

They’re on top of the ball, under it, along side it, between the legs with it, and around the back. They make the Harlem Globe Trotters look like pikers! Actually, I pay close attention when they’re around and try to cop some of their moves.

All of these types are well-meaning folks and they are certainly preferable to some of the knuckleheads that sometimes show up at the gym. They make going to the gym the enjoyable and enriching experience that it is.

Benefits of Massage Recliners vs. a Massage Therapist

Posted in Medical Hall on May 28th, 2008

After a long hard day at the office wouldn’t it be nice to get a massage. Unfortunately you have to first find a certified or licensed massage therapist. If you’re lucky and happen to know someone or have a regular therapist you work with, you still have to schedule an appointment. After you call and set the time you’ll have to get back into your car and drive to therapist’s office.

In today’s world most of us want instant gratification and have limited time in our hectic life. If money was no object most of us would get a massage every week, or possibly two or three times a week.

Let me pause here for a moment. It is very ironic that I would be writing an article about massage recliners because I am a certified massage therapist. As a therapist my first goal is to help the client get healthy. Sometimes I refer a client to a chiropractor or to an acupuncturist that can better serve the clients needs. The same is true about massage recliners. With new technology massage recliners have advanced beyond clunky massage rollers to high tech massagers that can emulate the human touch.

There are many health benefits from a massage from a trained therapist or a massage recliner. A trained massage therapist knows how to get the kinks out of your back and relieve the muscle tension from everyday stress. Massage recliners have superior technology and do more than rub your back. New models from Human Touch, iJoy, Panasonic and Sanyo can also massage the legs, feet, arms and shoulders.

Health Benefits of Massage

* Improves lymphatic flow. The act of massaging and kneading the muscles increases blood flow. Health benefits are better circulation and absorption of nutritional elements into the muscles and tissues. In addition, kneading the muscles helps clear out toxins out of the muscles.

* Decreases muscle tension and improves flexibility. Body tension and stress causes the muscles to tighten and shorten. Health benefits include loosening tight muscles and restoring range and flexibility.

* Massage therapy produces the ‘feel good chemical’, the same endorphins that are increased after working out at the gym. This ‘feel good chemical’ helps speed recovery, reduces pain and reduces anxiety.

Another benefit seldom discussed is clearer thinking. When you are out of body pain and the range of motion is restored to your neck, your mind can better concentrate on your everyday tasks.

Rates for a massage therapist can range from $40 to $100 depending on the therapist’s level of training and the city they are located in. Massage recliners are not cheap and can cost thousands of dollars. But over time, a massage recliner can pay for itself and provide many health benefits. Other considerations of cost savings are other family members using the massage recliner. In addition, some massage recliners are very stylish and are a handsome addition to any home décor.

Another benefit of a massage recliner is the fact it is a recliner chair. Anybody who has ever sat in a recliner knows how comfortable it is. Even if you do not activate the features of the massage recliner, the recliner itself has health benefits. The simple act of just sitting in a comfortable chair relaxes your body and eases body tension.

It’s your choice. Buy a massage recliner or call a massage therapist. Either one that you choose will have many health benefits. To make your buying decision easy I’d suggest scheduling two or three appointments with a certified or licensed massage therapist. Then try several brands and models of massage recliners to compare results.

Camping Solo

Posted in Health Issues on May 28th, 2008

I recently completed my first solo camping trip. Although I’ve been camping for over 45 years, this was the first time I didn’t have parents, friends, or a husband alone with me. It was just me, and the birds, and the bees. And the bear, but that’s another story.

Anyway, as I planned my trip, I found myself getting more and more apprehensive. What if I couldn’t . . . pitch the tent, light the stove, haul the water, sleep by myself . . . You name it, I worried about it. I came up with Plan B’s and Plan C’s and even a few Plan F’s. By the morning I was supposed to leave, I’d almost “what if-ed” myself out of going. But then I came up with the ultimate Plan B: if it got too tough, I could go stay in a motel, or even head home. So I went.

And I found it was easier than I expected. I threaded the poles into the tent, and then got the little metal doohickies into the tent poles so the tent actually stood up. I pounded five out of six tent pegs into rocky ground (bent the sixth) using a rock, because I’d forgotten the hammer. I hauled water. I coaxed our cranky, thirty-year-old camp stove into working. I split kindling for a campfire I didn’t get to have (the bear, again). And at the end of two days, as I drove home happy and at peace, I realized I didn’t have just one success. I had a whole collection of little ones.

I’ve heard - and preached - about breaking big projects down into little ones, but the principle has never come home to me so clearly as on this trip. When I looked at it as a whole, it was so scary I almost backed down. But once I got out there and did just one task at a time and focused on that task only, it became not only manageable, but almost easy.

Just as important, all that “unnecessary” worrying I’d done before the trip actually paid off. Because I’d mentally worked through a dozen different problems beforehand (of course, the problems I ended up facing weren’t the ones I’d worried about), I was more confident about meeting the challenges that did arise. And since my ultimate Plan B gave me permission to fail, I had the courage to try.

So go ahead. Worry. But don’t let it stop you. And give yourself permission to fail. Because only then will you have the courage to succeed.
